Ongoing Service Project - Care Packages to our Troops

Please submit the name of a serviceman/woman
who is currently serving on active duty in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Items Needed for Packages to be Sent to our Troops

Quick protein
– energy bars, tuna fish (vac packed), sardines, non-perishable beef jerky, powdered drink mixes (cocoa, instant coffee, tea bags, powered cream, sweetened drink mixes: lemonade and iced tea.

 Meal enhancers – Anything that can be mixes with “Meals Ready to Eat” such as seasoned salt,individual packets of hot sauce, mustard, relish and ketchup.

 Snacks – Snack cakes, cheese crackers, and cookies are in high demand.  Salty snacks are good for the desert, especially in the summer months, because they will encourage the service member to drink water.

 Candy and Gum – Avoid chocolate.  Send plenty of extras to be shared.

Personal Care and Clothing

Choose small, travel-size containers of personal care products – avoid aerosol cans.

Toiletries – toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, cotton swabs, disposable razors, razor blades, shaving cream/lotion (Noxzema or a gel type),  individually packed tissues.

Personal Care – Individually packaged baby wipes (soft container), eye drops, lip balm, sunscreen,lotion, aspirin, anti-perspirant (ie: Degree or Axe), feminine hygiene products for women.

 Foot Care – Moleskin, medicated foot powder, athlete’s-foot ointment, 100% COTTON socks.

Entertainment and Communication

Reading Material:  Paperback books, current magazines, comic books, comic sections.

Word games and puzzles:  Crossword puzzles, word searches, jigsaw puzzles.

Games:  Foam footballs and basketballs, Frisbees, Hacky sacks, playing cards, yo-yo’s.

Electronics:  DVD’s, CD’s, hand-held electronic games.

Batteries:  AA and D batteries are in high demand.  

Writing materials:  Notepaper, envelopes, pens, pencils, and stamps.

Phone cards:  Shop around to get the best deal on overseas minutes.

Disposable camera.
