We are all Catholics this month …

In the news recently we’ve all heard about the Health and Human Services ruling that church related organizations must offer a standard set of “free” services within their employee health care programs including sterilization, contraception and pharmaceutical abortions. These services run counter to the sincerely held religious beliefs documented in the tenants of the Catholic church. Yet the Obama administration demands that the church pay for these services directly or indirectly for all their employees.

The very first amendment to our constitution, in it’s very first sentence states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof: … “ .  While TOPPER has no constitutional lawyers, it seem that the “free exercise thereof” is in direct conflict with a requirement to pay for services that it finds morally objectionable.

Some among our membership might think “it serves them right; the Bishops supported passage of Obamacare and paid no attention to conservative voices who warned that Obama would force “women’s health issues” into Obamacare.”

Some among our membership might focus on the distraction that contraception is morally accepted by other faiths and practiced by a large percentage of Catholic women of child-bearing age.

Both of these approaches would be shortsighted.  The Obama administration’s rush to centralized decision making on all matters of our daily lives should bring pause to all thinking Americans.

As the German pastor described Germany in the 1930’s:

First they came for the communists,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
And I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then the came for the Jews,
And I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for me,
And there was no one left to speak out for me

All citizens who love our country, respect it’s constitution, and want to maintain  freedom for ourselves and our children need to stand together.  Abolish Obamacare!

Stand together. This month we are all Catholics.  In November we are all Republicans.

Great Insight by Dick Morris regarding party rebuilding.

Republicans Must Stand Firm on Principles

Excerpts:

This is a time for the party to stand firm on its principles until this nation again comes around to the GOP's way of thinking. This process will be driven by the consequences of President Obama's program.

The top producers will be hounded by confiscatory taxation. A majority will pay nothing or receive government welfare. Our healthcare system will be destroyed. Illegal immigrants will be well on their way to citizenship.

All America will be watching the Obama fallout, and Republicans must be seen as a clear alternative — a strong voice for reversal of the harm the president will have inflicted — if they are to benefit from this catastrophe.

If the GOP is seen as a moderate force, a party just looking to split the difference, voters will cynically conclude that there is no distinction between the parties.
